Held every Wednesday and Saturday
on Truro's Lemon Quay
9am - 4pm
This year’s Taste of the West Awards have just been announced, and we are pleased to report a significant haul for market producers – this year particularly in the locally-reared meat categories.
Bocaddon Farm Veal’s ethically-reared meat, which is processed in an on-farm butchery and delivered fresh to market each week, came away with two awards – a Gold for Shin of Veal and a Silver for Fillet of Veal.
The Cornish Duck Co. received three Gold Awards – for their Free Range Whole Duck, Duck Breast and Gluten Free Duck Burgers. Roger and Tanya can be found at market each week, where they also sell their delicious duck eggs.
Meanwhile Primrose Herd, our popular pork producers, took home a whopping 9 Gold Awards! Their pork cuts, bacon, sausages and burgers all ignited the taste buds of the judges, who clearly couldn’t get enough of the finest pork from outdoor reared, traditional breeds.
Other winners included The Cornish Olive Stall, who took Gold for both their Mixed and Lemon Olives – congratulations Steve and Nikki!
Pura Pressed also won a Gold for their Supa Greens smoothie – a refreshing and healthy blend of spinach, kale, broccoli, parsley, celery and cucumber.
Finally Padstow Brewing Company, another market regular, were awarded a Silver medal for their Kora’ Dorgel, which we hope will be available to buy at market soon.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the awards. Competition in the Westcountry is always tough when it comes to regional food awards, with so many great producers out there. It’s fantastic to see our market producers continuing to lead the pack!
