Tregassow Asparagus is Back!

The green shoots of spring have reappeared at market in the shape of Tregassow Asparagus. John and Jennie Keeler, who produce highly sought-after asparagus in St Erme, have had a good start to the season, with strong growth despite the cold nights.

Jennie explained that various hybrids are ready at different times: “Our fields of Ginlim are now starting  but we are still waiting for the Guelph Millenium to start showing some spears.” The latter is a late-season variety which prolongs the short-lived appearance of this delicious and distinctive vegetable.

John and Jennie will be at market every Wednesday and Saturday during the season, where they will be giving away some excellent recipes for using British Asparagus – the best in the world!
