Held every Wednesday and Saturday
on Truro's Lemon Quay
9am - 4pm
We are joining forces with our neighbours, the Pannier Market, to host the Cornish heat of the ‘Young Trader of The Year’ competition this spring, with entry already open to aspiring young entrepreneurs.
The national competition is an annual event run by the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF) which aims to identify and support the next generation of market stall holders.
Taking place on Saturday 7th May alongside our regular market and the Pannier Market shopping experience, the heat is open to all entrants between the ages of 16 to 30, with the winners going through to the South West Regional Final later in the summer.
The ultimate winner of the coveted award will receive a cash prize to help them kick-start their market trading business and build a platform for success.
Several of our existing market traders are eligible to take part, but the organisers also want to encourage others to join in.
Fellow organiser Sam Roach of the Pannier Market said: “This is a great opportunity to establish a profitable market trading business and become a successful young entrepreneur. I am handling the applications from any young person in Cornwall with a great concept or fledgling idea for a market stall, so please spread the word!”
We’re really looking forward to collaborating with the Pannier Market for this event. The market community here in Truro is like one big family, offering mutual support and encouragement. We both recognise that young traders are our future, and that we need new businesses and ideas so that we continue to thrive.
Any young person taking part in this competition or becoming part of the market longer term will receive a warm welcome and discover an invaluable support network.
We are hoping that people will come out in support of the aspiring young entrepreneurs on the 7th May, paying a visit to their market stalls and enjoying a great local shopping experience in the heart of the city.
Any potential young traders should email Sam Roach on vitalbirch@yahoo.co.uk for more information or to apply.
