Great Showing for Meadowside in Devon

This week market stalwarts Meadowside Nursery embarked on a trip across the Tamar to The Devon County Show, where family horticulturists Anne, Brian and Ralph received a Gold Award for their stunning show display.

The display featured Anchusa, Iris, Lupin, Aquilegia, Astilbe and Achillea among others, and the colourful collection clearly caught the eyes of the judges in what was a tough competition.

Anne Pengelly said she was very proud of her husband and son who had worked so hard to put the Meadowside entry together, saying: “The standard at these shows is so high that having a stand requires a lot of planning and organisation, and a great deal of effort is needed to bring everything together on the day. Winning a Gold Award is a fantastic reward for the hard work we put in all year round.”

Meadowside is a family endeavor based at Carnon Downs, near Truro.  The Pengelly’s are famous for their beautiful displays at Truro Farmers Market every week, where Anne sells cut flowers and plants as well as fresh vegetables. While Anne takes care of the market, her husband Brian and son Ralph execute the planting and potting, making sure the nursery has a wealth of colourful plants and flowers to sell throughout the year.
