A Great Harvest for Bosue

2014 has been a record-breaking year for Bosue Vineyard, with 8.50 tonnes of grapes picked, crushed, pressed and now fermenting into a range of white, rosé, and red sparkling and still wines.

Ideal weather conditions throughout the year meant that both quality and quantity were excellent. The frost-free Spring, fine weather at flowering in July, and a hot summer led into a wonderfully settled and unusually warm Autumn – conditions winemakers in this country dream of! This has ensured the grapes were picked in the best possible condition ready for pressing, and pickers enjoyed dry and warm harvest days.

“All our grapes are picked by hand, before being carefully moved to the winery in the vineyard where they are gently crushed before pressing,” explained Paul Sibly of Bosue Vineyard. “Cool fermented begins as soon as possible to retain the fruit flavours of the grapes.” In the past this has ensured award winning wines, which the Bosue are confident will be created again this year given the exceptional harvest.

“We are grateful for our teams of pickers who seemed to enjoy the hard work as well as all the chatter in the vineyard, the welcome lunches, all of course washed down by Bosue wines!” added Paul.

You can find a selection of Bosue wines at Truro Farmers Market every Saturday.
