Held every Wednesday and Saturday
on Truro's Lemon Quay and
every Tuesday on the Moor in Falmouth
Christmas in Truro is set to be extra special this year, as The BIG Christmas Market begins an exciting new chapter.
We are thrilled to be hosting the best festive shopping experience around, with the help of Truro City Council, Visit Truro, Truro BID, Headline Sponsor Sekoya HR, and with the enthusiastic support of The Mayor of Truro, Cllr Carol Swain.
New for this year, the revolving selection of Cornwall’s finest artisan traders will be housed in bespoke wooden cabins, all uniquely decorated with a festive feel.
Applications are now open to potential traders interested in taking part; two sizes of wooden cabins are available, and applicants can request to join us at market for anything from five days to the full 26 days.
The beautiful wooden cabins, made for us locally by Llawnroc Furniture, will really upgrade the market experience for both traders and visitors. Not only will they look magical – festooned with lights and individually styled by each of the traders – it will also make for a better visiting experience, whatever the Cornish weather throws at us.
Thanks to the versatility of the new wooden cabins, the market will run every day from Wednesday 29th November until Christmas Eve, bringing a celebration of local produce, creativity, and community into the heart of the city throughout the festive season.
In addition to the activity on Lemon Quay, an extension of the market featuring mainly fresh produce and street food will pop-up on Boscawen Street every Wednesday and Saturday, adding to the enticing prospect of Christmas shopping in Truro.
The Mayor of Truro, Cllr Carol Swain, said: “The BIG Christmas Market will be better than ever this year, promising an unmissable yuletide experience for the whole family. I know the aspirational team behind the project are still finalising the details, but suffice to say that the new improved market will be a real destination – one to rival those of other beautiful cities around the UK.”
Each day a wide range of stalls will showcase local food, drink, art, and crafts, while street food, music, festive happenings, and family entertainment will add an immersive feel to the month-long market.
Shoppers will be able to tuck into mulled wine and mince pies, as local choirs serenade them with yuletide carols and Christmas lights sparkle overhead.
Truro BID Manager, Alun Jones, said: “Truro remains the Christmas shopping destination for Cornwall, and we welcome the ‘new look’ market, which will bring additional customers in and help boost sales for shops and eateries across the city. We’re delighted to be working with Truro Farmers Market, helping to extend the festive market feel around the city centre by including stalls on Boscawen Street on Wednesday and Saturdays in the run up to Christmas.”
