In a visit organised by our friends at Visit Cornwall, we were thrilled to welcome Lady Victoria Borwick, Chairman of Visit England’s Advisory Board & Andrew Stokes, Director of England for Visit England to the market last month.
The Visit England representatives were in Truro to see how the activities of the brilliant Visit Truro local team to promote the city are having a real and meaningful impact. Spending time here at the thriving farmers market allowed them to see how we use Lemon Quay as a focal point for events, and how our collective of local small traders bring a genuine Cornish shopping experience into the heart of the city.
The visitors enjoyed sampling some of the treats available at our market, including small batch Cornish gin from Falmouth Black Rock & Artisan fudge from Buy Fudge – two fantastic examples of thriving independent businesses here in Cornwall.
We also presented them each with a copy of Truro Farmers Market – The Cookbook so they could take a taste of Cornwall home with them.
Lady Victoria said: “We are very grateful to Visit Cornwall and Visit Truro for giving us the opportunity to see first-hand all the hard work being done to promote Cornwall, and Cornwall’s city, as a world-class destination. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the market and would like to congratulate the organisers on the community ethos and the opportunities being created to nurture prosperity locally. We came away very impressed by the whole experience and keen to explore new ways of promoting places like Truro in the future.”
With two major events lined up for this year – Truro Food & Drink Festival and Truro’s BIG Christmas Market – we’re looking forward to working all the way up the line with Visit Truro, Cornwall & England over the next few months!
