A mouth-watering prospect: Truro Food Festival is back!

September 2024 just got a major diary upgrade, with the announcement that Truro Food Festival will explode back onto the culinary scene in a colourful, flavoursome, and thoroughly Cornish reincarnation.

Set to be held over five action-packed days, the gas will be lit on Wednesday 25th September with the festival coming to a sizzling finish on Sunday 29th.

Once a highlight in the Cornish event calendar, it’s hoped the return of Truro Food Festival will give local traders and businesses a vital boost at the onset of autumn.

Coinciding with traditional harvest time, the showcase of local produce and culinary talent will be hosted by the team here at TFM and our partners, Cornwall Event Cabins.

Featuring a star-studded Chef’s Theatre, an abundant Producer’s Village, and a mouth-watering Street Food Corner, the event will take over Lemon Quay and spread the joy further afield across the city, with stalls on Boscawen Street on Wednesday 25th and Saturday 28th, and pop-up events taking place elsewhere.

We are beyond excited to be bringing this event back, with high hopes that it will benefit the whole Cornish food and drink industry and the region as a whole. We’re busy working with our brilliant sponsors to put everything in place for an epic five-day festival.

The festival will shine a light on the many talented chefs working in Cornwall – both established and emerging, as well as the diversity of fresh local produce and the plethora of exciting home-grown food and drink brands.

With the wealth of chefs, producers, and street food vendors on our doorstep, we want this event to be as genuinely local as possible. Cornish businesses will have first refusal across the board, which will also help keep food miles and transport emissions to a minimum.

We’re keeping the chef line-up close to our chests for now, but we promise some big names and local favourites will feature on the running order.

Meanwhile, Skinner’s Brewery will be taking charge of the bar, and also running evening events at The Tap Yard Bar for those who fancy a post-festival pint.

Truro College is another proud sponsor; hospitality students at the college will support the festival crew in the Chef’s Theatre, as well as demonstrate their own culinary prowess on stage.

Abi Steel from Visit Truro, keen supporters of the event, said: “This is just the first year of the festival in its new and exciting incarnation. I know Stewart and the team will start off strong and go on to build the event year on year, introducing new ideas and different ways local businesses can get involved. We’re thrilled for Truro – this is just what the city needs at that time of year.”
